How it works

Laser technology for progressive permanent epilation, optimum results, complete safety

The 808 nm (nanometres) laser diode is the new frontier for professional hair removal; its beam, with a wavelength of 808nm, passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigments contained in the hair and, in particular, in the hair bulb.

This “mechanism” causes the immediate warming and consequent elimination of the germ cells of the bulb, commencing a progressive permanent hair removal process.

Wavelength 808 nm, the “therapeutic window” which offers the highest absorption coefficient of the chromophore melanin is between 600 nm and 1200 nm. In addition, the melanin, which colours the hair bulb and the stem, is absorbed around 10 times more at 800 nm compared to other frequencies.

The laser

 

The target of the laser light is melanin, a protein that is used by the body as a pigment and colours the skin and skin appendages such as the hair dark.

The conversion of light to heat determines the destruction of the hair follicle caused by the increase in local temperature. 

This process is called selective photothermolysis. 

The word selective comes from the fact that the light is harmless to the skin and its structures, but is selectively absorbed by the hair follicle, disabling it. 

The follicles that are in the anagen phase have the largest amount of melanin and can absorb light energy from the laser.

The energy from the laser damages the hair follicle and impairs its ability to develop others.

Over time, the hairs will fall out and growth will be slowed until they progressively disappear. 

The laser light spots selectively affect the hairs present on the treated area, preserving the surrounding tissue.
